Focus
At Include Pty Ltd we try not to focus on 'problems'. Historically,
a failure to learn or a disability has been associated with a labelling
process where people have been assessed, categorised and then treated
in accordance with the label that has been determined. Traditionally this
has led to lowered expectations, a focus on management rather than development
and growth, and a mass of "special" programs and techniques
that have highlighted difference. This is not to say that an impairment
does not exist. The focus of Include Pty Ltd is to provide the teaching
and support to ensure that people can be included even when they have
very significant impairments. However we believe that this can best be
achieved by starting from the ordinary, valued and typical, looking for
similarities rather than difference. Hence on this web site, you will
find what you seek in the ordinary, typical and valued.

who has been working in the field of human services and education for
over three decades.
Qualifications
B.Econ (hons.) University of New England. Honours in psychology.
Dip. Ed. University of New England.
PhD. Murdoch University. Research area was psychology/disability.
Registered Psychologist.
Experience
1970-1974 Psychologist at Pyrton Training Centre, the largest institution
for people with an intellectual disability in WA.
1974-1981 Supervisor in Charge, Pyrton Training Centre
1981-1985 Supervisor of all state government services to people with multiple
disabilities.
1985-1990 Regional Director, North Metropolitan Region, state government
services to people with intellectual disabilities.
1990-1998 Visiting Research Fellow, Centre for Disability Research and
Development, Edith Cowan University, Perth.
1998-2003 Director, Centre for Disability Research and Development, Edith
Cowan University, Perth. Associate Professor of Special Education.
2003- Adjunct Associate Professor of Education, Edith Cowan University.
Managing Director, Include Pty Ltd. Chair, Foundation for Social Inclusion
(Inc).
Other personnel are local, interstate and overseas colleagues
brought in to co-present at workshops as well as direct care workers working
with individual families.
